  1. Rhal analyzed this game with NM Giri Cabellon today in preparation for his participation in the Asian Age Group Championship in May at Subic.

NM Giri stressed that an early c5, with the support of Rc8 gives Black a very promising game.

  2. Aside from the c5 break, NM Giri pointed out that the exchange of Qs is premature. However, even after the Q exchange, Rhal can still draw with Kf8 and aiming for the exchange of the Q-side pawns; Black can draw with 3 vs 4 pawns on the K-side with his R simply attacking the K & pawns via the ranks.

  3. After the Asian Youth and the Alphaland and NBS Kiddies, Rhal trained with Sonny dela Rosa of Antipolo City Chess Team on the London System where he has a big fat egg record: 0W-5L in tournament play.

This was his first session with Sonny and the 3rd on this type of training, the first two with Gumila of EARIST.

  7. Well, after 7 losses and 2 training sessions with Sonny dela Rosa of Antipolo City Chess Team and IM Oliver Dimakiling, Rhal is still at a loss, literally and figuratively, as he lost again against Alanan of Binangonan in Shell Batangas 2011.

Today, during the long 4-day weekend, we reviewed this Faizal game and it analysis. Perhaps Rhal should focus on identifying the mistakes he committed in these 8 losses, for as IM Cardoso says, it is not because of the opening that one loses.
