  1. GM Bong Villamayor:

    On 3... exd5
This is a symmetrical pawn structure w/ d-pawns. The basic plan is to fight for the e-file and control of the e5 outpost.

    On 4... c5
This challenges d4 but the possibility of dxc5 can give Black an IQP.

    On 5.Nf3
This position can also be reached via the Sicilian Alapin as in Kasparov vs Topalov in Geneve 1996.

    On 6.Be2
    6.Bd3 is more active.

    On 9.Bb5?
Clearly violates the basic principle: Don't move the same piece twice in the opening.

    On 12... cxd4
This is a strategic error - IQP.

    On 13. Qd4
At this point, Rhal has a clear advantage due to the weakness of Black's IQP which is technically difficult to defend.

    On 13... Qc5
    A further mistake.

    On 14.Qxc5!
Simplification helps the side w/ the advantage.

    On 15.Nd2?
    15.Rd1 is called for.
