  1. This was Rhal's first win against a varsity player. Salazar is a member of the San Beda High School Chess Team. San Beda's Head Coach is Tatang Henry Mariano.

Incidentally, San Beda is Daddy's and Paulo's alma mater.

  2. The opening is called as the Four Knights' Game, with all four knights out early. But Rhal's 4.Bc4 is not the best continuation (4.Bb5 is the main line) and is in fact can be answered by 4... Nxe4 to be followed by 5.Nxe4 d5 and Black has not only equalized but has decimated White's center.

  3. Rhal's 9.Be3 is a blunder as it loses a pawn without any positional compensation.

  4. on 15.Bxe6, Rybka recommends 15.Bxc6 - to weaken Black's Q-side pawn structure.
