2010 Shell Active Chess Goes To Naga

The expanded 2010 Shell National Youth Active Chess Championship moves to its fourth stage for the Southern Luzon eliminations on July 31 -August 1 at SM City Naga’s Event Center in Naga City.Interested participants may download registration forms by logging on to www.shell.com.ph/shell_chess. Registration is also available at selected schools, chess clubs and municipal/provincial government offices and at various Shellane Showrooms nationwide. The Naga event is part of the Southern Luzon eliminations, with the first held in Batangas City two weeks ago. A maximum field of 500 is expected to participate in the Naga leg.
Following the Naga leg, Shell Active Chess will proceed to Iloilo on August 14-15 for the Western Visayas eliminations, Cebu on August 28-29 for the Central Visayas eliminations, Cagayan de Oro on September 11 – 12 and Davao on September 25 – 26 for the Mindanao eliminations.
The top three players of the Naga leg in both the 20-and-under and 14-and-under categories will join the other top finishers in the other legs in the national finals slated in October at SM Megamall with the junior champion taking home P30,000 and the kiddies winner receiving P20,000. Each leg will be an eight-round Swiss system event for the juniors and nine-round for the kiddies. The grand finals will be a nine-round tournament for both divisions.
