Metropolitan Non-Master

  1. In preparation for Jakarta, Rhal jumped into training the day after he took the Ateneo HS Entrance Test and joined this Non-Masters event, meaning vs adult players.

The first 3 rounds were played on G/15 and the last 2 rounds were on G/60.

Rhal has excellent chances in R1 vs Villanueva (quality up) but ran out of time. It was the same story in R2. Pero sa R3, he was really outplayed and was forced to give up his Q to avoid mate.

R4 was at G/60 and Rhal started on the right track, essaying his Alapin and I was surprised when he tried out a new idea - g3 & Bg3. Anyway, it tapered to a drawish endgame that Rhal lost.

R5 is also at G/60 but I guess that he is tired and already frustrated with a 0-4 card. He blitzed his opening and paid the price.

Rhal finished with a 0W-5L card in his 6th tournament with adults (Halloween Cup, Aguila Memorial, El Bohemio, Balaoing Memorial, Belen Memorial and this - Metropolitan). This was his worst though the Halloween, Aguila, Balaoing, and Belen are Meralco events, meaning lower category). But this is just his 3rd G/60, 3rd APSSO, PRADA and this).

    Rhal's Score Card:
    R1 Greg Villanueva
    R2 Joseph Young
    R3 Leo Atienza
    R4 Cezar Gaffud
    R5 Sr Cabual
