Rhal entered this tournament with a new rating of 1782. This comes as a surprise since his previously released rating was 1632 in PACE last November 2010. Maybe his rating improved on account of his wins and draw in the Asian Youth last May in Subic where he drew with a pair rated foreign players.
In 2009, Rhal placed at 162nd. In 2010 or last year, he improved to 78th place. And this 2011, He climbed to 46th spot.
His hardwork is paying off. He is improving every year. He could have finished several notch higher had he won his game vs Sistoza where he is already a pawn up but got flagged down.
Next year will be his final year in this division and the future is bright. I hope Rhal finds the light at the end of this Shell tunnel in 2012.
This 2012, the participants are still limited to 100 but the number of rounds were increased by 1, from 8 to 9. And Rhal got a glimpse of the light by finishing slightly higher at 37th place. But his output of 4 wins and 2 draws is definitely better. And this is his last year in the Kiddies Division.

ReplyDeleteHowever, his 50% performance on 4W-4L is disappointing. He got into time trouble in 2 of those losses; Rilloraza and Sistoza.
ReplyDeleteIn this regard, he needs to play more training games on 25 minute time control.
