In the try-outs for the Section's representative, Junior scored an easy win in Round 1. He scored another win in this KO format against the other first round winner.
In that KO game, he was actually a piece down and is in a losing position. But he sacrificed his N to capture his opponent's queening pawn. I tohught that it would just make the game longer but the result would not differ but somewhere along the way, his opponent blundered as his B got pinned by Junior's R and the game was suddenly even; with 1 R each and 4 pawns a piece. But Junior banked on one of the basic endgame rule; R behind the passed pawn and won!
