This is Rhal's first title or championship outside of MERALCO.
ReplyDeleteLast year, he placed 2nd and got a silver medal in this very same event. He lost to Stephen Pangilinan who was crowned champion. Pero this 2011, Stephen did not defend his crown and Rhal won via tie-breaks over Josh Tan.
Rhal's other championships were the Battle of MERALCO Jr. GM in 2010 E-Day celebration where he defeated a couple of high school bets including Ateneo's JC Andan. The other were small events: 1st MERALCO Chess Camp at MMLDC and the San Lorenzo Ruiz Cup at MERALCO.
